Offered in coupe and roadster forms, the Z3 was the first BMW car to be produced outside Germany. A variety of 4 and 6 cylinder engines were offered from the sedan range and were mated to manual and automatic transmissions. The Z3 gained some quick fame when it was James Bond's car of choice...in GoldenEye and a rare special edition was even offered. The M performance model was introduced in 1997 and featured the 240hp S52 3.2L straight six and 5-speed manual transmission. Other upgrades included more aerodynamic wing-mirrors, redesigned front and rear bumpers, revised side gill, 17-inch wheels, quad exhausts, and engine and oil temperature gauges in the center console.
